> Proposed Planning Framework and Conceptual Schemes

Taking into account the views/comments collected in the Stage 1 Community Engagement and the findings of the baseline review study, we have now formulated the planning framework and conceptual improvement schemes.

Proposed Planning Framework
Given the predominant rural setting and existence of ecological and cultural environment, the planning framework for the whole Study Area should fundamentally be a preservation of its natural and cultural resources with the support of a comprehensive road, pedestrian and cycle network. This circulation system would help link up the existing and new tourism and recreational attractions both within and outside the Study Area.  It is expected that the proposed planning framework would strengthen the area’s position as an “Eco-Cultural Park” in the north western part of the territory.

Proposed Conceptual Schemes
Based on the proposed planning framework, various conceptual schemes are formulated and each Focus Study Area would be enhanced under different themes, taking into account its uniqueness of the cultural and natural landscape as well as public comments received.

Overall Transport Strategy
To address the key issues identified and respond the public comments received, the overall transport strategy would aim at strengthening the pedestrian and vehicular system in order to enhance the connectivity within and outside the Study Area. This would help connect the various attractions in Lau Fau Shan and the surrounding areas, and promote tourism development.
