
Recruitment Advertisement for Temporary Training Vacancy
PLANNING DEPARTMENT
Town Planning Graduate
Applications are invited to fill the above temporary training vacancies tentatively around November 2026.

1. |
Entry Requirements |
|
| (I) | An acceptable degree in the relevant discipline from a Hong Kong university or equivalent (obtained in 2025 or after), or other non-degree qualifications acceptable to the relevant professional institutions (obtained in October 2024 or after) as follows : | |
| a degree in Town Planning or a qualification, which is acceptable to the Hong Kong Institute of Planners (HKIP) as satisfying the academic requirements for exemption from the HKIP Qualifying Examination Part I and admission into the Qualifying Examination Part II; | ||
| and | ||
| (II) | Be a permanent resident of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region at the time of engagement unless specified otherwise. | |
| Notes: | ||
| (i) | Applicants who have obtained a relevant degree/qualification before the date mentioned in (I) of the “Entry Requirements” above and are pursuing or have just obtained in 2025 or after another degree on a related subject on a full time basis may also be considered provided that the break between completion of the first relevant degree/qualification and commencement of the related degree is not more than 18 months. If an applicant has pursued more than one related degrees, the aggregate period of breaks between the degrees should also not be more than 18 months. | |
| (ii) | Applicants sitting their final examinations of the relevant degree in Town Planning or persons sitting the final part(s) of relevant examinations of professional institutions, as well as applicants sitting the final part(s) of relevant examinations of other non-degree qualifications acceptable to the relevant professional institutions in the summer of 2026 may also apply. If selected, their engagement will be subject to their acquiring the requisite academic qualification not later than 30 November 2026, or such other date as may be accepted by the Planning Department. | |

2. |
Training |
| Successful candidates will receive practical training under professional guidance meeting the training requirements of the relevant professional institutions. | |

3. |
Training Honorarium |
| The current honorarium on entry is $24,800 per month. The above amount of honorarium and the terms of engagement are subject to changes at the time the offer of engagement is made. Graduate trainees are not civil servants and their training honoraria are independent of the civil service pay. | |

4. |
Terms of Appointment |
| The training vacancies are temporary posts. Graduate trainees are not civil servants and are not engaged on civil service terms and conditions. Their training honoraria are also independent of the civil service pay. The training period is two years. There is no guarantee for further engagement in the Government after completion of the above training engagement. | |

5. |
How to Apply |

| Applicants must apply online through the G.F. 340 Online Application System of the Civil Service Bureau (https://www.csb.gov.hk) on or before 6 February 2026. Applications which are incomplete or submitted in person, by post, by fax or by e-mail will not be accepted. |

| Applicants should submit scanned copies of required supporting documents via email to dadsi@pland.gov.hk not later than 13 February 2026. “Application for the post of Town Planning Graduate” and applicant’s online application number should be clearly stated in the subject of the email. |

| Candidates who are selected for interview will normally receive an invitation anytime during the six months period from the closing date for application. Invitation to the recruitment interview will be issued by email. Please ensure that accurate email address is provided and that your email account can receive incoming emails properly. Those who are not invited for interview may assume that their applications are unsuccessful. |

| Each application should be accompanied by : | |||
| (a) | a supplementary letter giving a brief account of past relevant training/experience and course projects; | ||
| (b) | a copy each of all official transcripts showing the results of all examinations taken at universities or other examinations leading to the award of a qualification recognised by the relevant professional institution; | ||
| (c) | a copy of the degree certificate if acquired; | ||
| (d) | a list of subjects, and their respective weighting, studied in the final year of the degree course (only for applicants who are studying in the final year of their degree courses); and | ||
| (e) | a copy of the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination, certificates of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination, the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination and other public English language examinations (e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, GCE, GCSE, HKSARG Common Recruitment Examination, etc.) showing the results achieved in English language in such examinations. Candidates will have to make a declaration on the public English language examinations taken by them, if so required by the Department. |

| Applications not accompanied by the above documents may not be considered. Copies of documents mentioned in (b) and (c) above may be passed to the relevant professional institution for the purpose of confirming whether or not the qualification satisfies the academic requirements for corporate membership/admission into the professional examination/training scheme of the institution concerned. | |||
