
The 19th Shenzhen-Hong Kong Joint Planning Co-operation Meeting was held in Hong Kong on 27 January 2026. Hong Kong and Shenzhen have been maintaining close communications and exchanging the latest progress on town planning work of the two cities through the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Joint Planning Co-operation Meeting.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Director of Planning, Mr Tom Yip, and the Director General of the Planning and Natural Resources (PNR) Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality, Mr Xu Songming. The Permanent Secretary for Development (Planning & Lands), Ms Doris Ho, was also invited to attend the meeting. During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on topics such as the Northern Metropolis and the urban development of Shenzhen and Hong Kong, and agreed to strengthen co-operation and exchanges, including arrangements for forums and reciprocal visits.
After the meeting, officials from the Planning Department (PlanD) and the delegation of PNR visited the East Coast Boardwalk and the West Kowloon Cultural District. The party was briefed by representatives of the PlanD, the Civil Engineering and Development Department, and the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority on the two projects, noting how both projects leveraged harbourfront areas to incorporate distinctive designs and integrated comprehensive facilities for public, cultural and recreational spaces, thereby enhancing the urban landscape along both sides of Victoria Harbour and improving the quality of life for the public.
