Summer Planning School 2026 – “Be a Little Town Planner”
Summer Planning School 2026 – “Be a Little Town Planner” is the major event in the Planning Department Outreach Programme. This year’s event was met with enthusiastic response, attracting over 90 teachers and students from 8 primary schools to join us. The event was supported by the Northern Metropolis Co-ordination Office (NMCO) of the Development Bureau. Although the event was once postponed due to inclement weather, it was successfully held on July 15th and 21st to 22nd.
On Day 1 of the summer planning school, lectures were arranged for the students to introduce the overall planning of the Northern Metropolis (NM) and the community planning of the Hung Shui Kiu/Ha Tsuen New Development Area (HSK/HT NDA) within the NM. On Day 2, students were guided to visit the site to understand the current situation and development potential of the HSK/HT NDA, as well as the Civil Engineering and Development Department’s HSK/HT NDA Community Liaison Centre. Day 3 was “Be a Little Town Planner” workshop. Students had the opportunities to act as town planners to unleash their creativity and plan for a new livable community in HSK/HT NDA. The entire event was hosted and led by the professional town planner.
