Conservation and Natural Environment
HKWP Special Area (Figures 23 and 24), located
in the northeast portion of TSW New Town,
is an ecological mitigation area with 61 ha of
land under "Country Park" zone on the OZP. It
is proposed as a replacement habitat for the
wetland lost from the engineering works in the
northern portion of the New Town and acts as
a buffer to minimise human disturbance to the
ecologically sensitive areas of the Inner Deep Bay
SSSI, the adjoining fish ponds and MPNR to its
east and northeast which have been designated
for inclusion in the Ramsar List of Wetlands of
International Importance (Ramsar Site).
