Special Citation (Plan/Concept category)

'From Brown to Green' - Hung Shui Kiu New Development Area (HSK NDA) was awarded

the Special Citation for the Plan/Concept in the Urban Design Awards 2018 of the Hong
Kong Institute of Urban Design. Capturing the strategic locational advantages, HSK NDA
is positioned as the Regional Economic and Civic Hub of the Northwest New Territories.
Various green initiatives in turning the brownfield and abandoned agricultural land into a high

quality and sustainable new generation new town, including optimistion of land resources,
efficient use of land for promoting economic growth and employment opportunities, and smart
and green design, are proposed under the planning of HSK NDA.

The award shows recognition of excellence in planning and design for a sustainable, people-
oriented and balanced living, working and business community of HSK NDA which
contributes to Hong Kong's future economic development.
