Our Performance
In 2017-18, we visited a total of 45 secondary and primary schools, staged exhibitions at three
shopping centres, three government offices and 32 other public venues.
Exhibition at shopping centre
The Mobile Exhibition Centre
The Department operates a MEC to support the Outreach
Programme. The MEC is a vehicle equipped with touch-
screen computers and liquid-crystal display monitors using
interactive media to provide various types of information
on town planning. In 2017-18, the MEC visited public
venues and provided support for the school visits. Staff
of the Department were also present to answer questions
from the public and distribute town planning publicity

Planning Enquiry
In 2018, the Department handled 13 448 oral enquiries
by telephone or in person, as well as 1 713 straightforward
and 641 complicated written enquiries. The written
enquiries included 60 applications under the Code on
Access to Information. Also, there were 1 621 media
enquiries replied. More than 98 per cent of the enquiries
were processed within the targets set in the Department’s
Performance Pledge. A breakdown of the types of
planning matters of the enquiries is shown in the figure.
