Planning Enquiry

In 2017, the Department handled 14 597 oral enquiries by telephone or in person, as well
as 1 911 straightforward and 870 complicated written enquiries. These oral and written
enquiries included 71 applications under the Code on Access to Information. Also, there
were 1 665 recorded media enquiries. More than 96 per cent of the enquiries were processed

within the targets set in the Department’s Performance Pledge. A breakdown of the type of
planning matters of the enquiries is as follows:

89 During the year, 49 briefings on various planning topics were given by the Department to
various bodies such as visitors from the Mainland and overseas. Examples of topics were
‘General Planning System and Practice’, ‘New Town Development in Hong Kong’ and ‘Hong
Kong 2030+’.
