Focus
To open up more government data for use as raw materials for the public in the areas such as
technological research, innovation and smart city development, the Department in December
2018 has published the annual open data plan to set out the datasets to be released on the
Public Sector Information (PSI) Portal (https://data.gov.hk) in the coming three years. Among
others, the 3D photo-realistic model covering Hong Kong Island and Kowloon Peninsula has
been released to the public gradually for free downloading by districts, commencing from end
December 2018 (Figure 14).

In the future, we shall step up our efforts to convert more suitable data into machine-readable
and spatially-enabled format. Meanwhile, we will keep abreast of the emerging trend of
innovation and technological development to identify areas where information technology
potential can be further exploited to uplift our work efficiency as well as to enhance the
provision of services to the public.
