Trips to Hong Kong made by Visitors from the Mainland, regardless of the endorsements they
held, were predominantly for leisure (71.3 per cent for general Individual Visit Endorsement
visitors, 80.7 per cent for ‘one trip per week’ Individual Visit Endorsement visitors and 55.0 per
cent for non-Individual Visit Endorsement visitors) and for visiting relatives and friends (15.3
per cent for general Individual Visit Endorsement visitors, 11.8 per cent for ‘one trip per week’
Individual Visit Endorsement visitors and 14.6 per cent for non-Individual Visit Endorsement
visitors). Yet, there were a relatively small proportion of ‘one trip per week’ Individual Visit
Endorsement visitors (4.8 per cent) visiting Hong Kong for business, as compared with general
Individual Visit Endorsement visitors (8.4 per cent) and non-Individual Visit Endorsement
visitors (11.4 per cent).

Trip Origins and Destinations in the Mainland
The following charts show the most popular trip ends in the Mainland for trips made by the
two largest groups of cross-boundary passengers: People living in Hong Kong and Visitors
from the Mainland. The largest share of trips made by People living in Hong Kong had the
trip ends in Shenzhen (an average daily of 218 800 trips or 68.4 per cent) and Dongguan (an
average daily of 25 700 trips or 8.0 per cent), while the majority of trips made by Visitors from
the Mainland had the trip ends in Shenzhen (an average daily of 126 800 trips or 58.5 per
cent) and Guangzhou (an average daily of 22 300 trips or 10.3 per cent).
